Prayers in the Pines is a free Christian day camp where kids come to have fun, make friends, and grow in their faith in a real and meaningful way.
Founded in 2021, camp started with a simple vision: create a place where kids could step away from distractions and experience God in a way that feels real, personal, and unforgettable.
What began as a small, family-led effort has grown into something truly special - a weekend full of
outdoor adventures
team games and activities
small group Bible study
campfire worship and teaching
moments that campers carry with them long after camp ends
Camp is a lot of fun, but it's also intentional. Every activity, every conversation, every campfire moment is designed to make an impact. This isn't just another event - it's a place where kids are seen, known, and encouraged every step of the way.
At Prayers in the Pines, our Leadership team is made up of people with servant hearts - each using their God-given gifts in different ways to care for campers and create an unforgettable experience.
A heart for planning and people.
Lauren is the heart behind Prayers in the Pines and the one who dreamed it all up with her family back in 2021!
She loves planning and organizing every part of camp - from registration and schedules to staff training and activities - but she doesn't stay behind the scenes. You'll find her leading games, songs, and Bible studies, and building meaningful relationships with campers; usually closely followed by her flock of "little ducks".
Her heart is to make sure every camper feels seen, included, and excited to learn about God.
A heart for campers.
Steve has a God-given gift for connecting with young people.
He keeps camp running smoothly - whether it's organizing volunteers, solving problems, or making sure everything is ready to go - Steve is always working to keep camp safe, fun, and on track.
What really sets him apart is how he engages with campers - helping them feel comfortable, come out of their shell, and fully join in the fun.
When Steve teaches, he makes Bible studies easy to understand and meaningful. He truly has a heart for every camper and wants each one to feel confident, included, and encouraged.
A heart for care and connection.
Noel is primary reason camp feels like home away from home.
Camp takes place on her and Steve's property, and she puts so much care and loving touch into preparing a beautiful space fit for worshiping a God of wonders.
What campers remember the most is how she makes them feel. Noel forms genuine, loving connections with campers and is always ready with encouragement, kindness, and yes -- plenty of hugs.
Her heart is to make sure every camper feels safe, cared for, and truly loved.
A heart for teaching.
Wallace brings wisdom, energy, and a deep love for God's Word and His children.
He leads Bible studies and spends time connecting with campers, helping them ask questions, think deeply, and grow in their faith.
As a local pastor, he has a special connection with many of the kids and is passionate about helping them understand what they believe and why it matters.
A heart for provision.
Shirley is the heart of the kitchen at Prayers in the Pines.
She plans the menu, prepares each meal, serves the food, and keeps everything clean and running smoothly behind the scenes. She also leads and directs the kitchen volunteers, making sure every meal comes together just right.
She is always moving - rarely sitting down - and quietly makes sure everyone is taken care of.
While you may not see her out front, her work touches every camper, every day.
And if you ask around, you'll quickly hear - her spaghetti is a camp favorite.
A heart for jumping in.
If there's a game happening, a kayak launching, or something that needs an extra set of hands - you'll probably find him jumping in.
He helps lead field games, assists with kayaking activities, and supports Bible studies - bringing energy, encouragement, and a steady game-day attitude throughout the day. Whether he's helping campers try something new or just making sure everyone is having fun, he's always engaged and ready to serve.
His heart is to make sure every camper has a great experience.
A heart for serving.
David is always working, often where no one sees.
David is the behind-the-scenes powerhouse that keeps camp moving smoothly and safely.
From setting up and preparing the grounds to hauling kayaks, grilling burgers, fixing problems - David does it all with a servant's heart. His hard work makes it possible for everything camper enjoy to happen.
